PARKS AND RECREATION:
The City of Jacksonville Beach has over 4.1 miles of white sandy beaches which offer recreational opportunities year round. The city maintains Ocean Rescue services along its entire beach to protect the safety of its residents and visitors. Both the City and the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps provide lifeguard protection which has earned national recognition.
The City maintains one mile of oceanfront boardwalk with public restroom facilities at 2nd, 5th and 19th Avenues North. Outdoor showers are located at 2nd , 5th and 19th Avenues north and one at 7th Avenue South.
The SeaWalk Pavilion is a stage and amphitheater located beside the boardwalk. The venue provides an area for oceanfront entertainment for outdoor concerts, festivals and other special events.
The City Council is committed to providing family oriented entertainment for the community. The City sponsors host a number of Special Events and festivals such as the Annual Beaches Festival Parade, a spectacular 4th of July Celebration, the nationally acclaimed Spring the Blues Festival, Shrimp Festivals, and Jaguars Pep Rallies. City Sponsored concerts included performances by the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, St. Johns River City band and the First Coast Pops Orchestra.
CITY PARKS
Tall Pines Park:
North Ninth Avenue ( West of Penman Rd. ) One and a
half acre park includes nature trails, playground equipment and picnic pavilion.
Gonzales park:
North Second Avenue and Tenth Street A three acre
passive park equipped with 2 small little League Fields, a basketball court, playground
equipment, a 16' by 20' picnic shelter with tables and a covered bench rest area.
Huguenot Lagoon Park:
South Third Street and Sixteenth Avenue Located on a
3-acre lake with stocked fish, surrounded by a fishing pier and boardwalk - this park
includes a basketball court, playground equipment and a tennis center. Our Tennis
Facility features 6-lighted tennis courts and 1-unlit court providing adult & children
programs, clinics, and private lessons.
Carver Community Center:
738 South Fourth Avenue Offers organized youth
activities in sports
computer training arts.
Wingate Park:
South Penman Road 16 acres which includes 1 Adult
Softball Field, 1 regulation Football Field, 2 T - Ball Fields, 2 Little Major League
Fields, 1 Babe Ruth Field and a picnic area.
Recreation and Parks Department:
321 North Penman Road park benches and a small
multi-use practice field.
Municipal Golf Course:
605 South Penman Road. Programs are available
for adults and children including clinics and private lessons.
